Follow The Monkeys’ Uncle Lead!
Are you a local business owner or manager in the DC metro area looking for a great way to give back to the community and bring in new customers to the store, all with very little effort on your part? Consider becoming a DC Diaper Bank official collection site! All you need to do is provide a box or a bin for diaper drop-offs and coordinate with us on occasion so we can come pick up the diapers when the bin is full (and if you’re so inclined, provide an incentive for customers to donate, such as a discount on purchases). In addition to providing an easy way for local donors to get diapers to the DCDB, being a collection site brings in new potential customers who may not otherwise have stopped in to your store.
But don’t take our word for it – take it from one of our current collection sites, Monkey’s Uncle in DC! We recently spoke with Jay and Michael, the co-owners of the store, about what being a collection site has meant for their business. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be a drop-off for the bank,” they said. Not only do current customers bring in diaper donations regularly, they have had many non-customers come in to donate diapers, and many of them have become customers. Jay and Michael see the drop-off box as “another level of service” they provide, just like a changing table or nursing lounge. Monkey’s Uncle is a business geared towards giving back to the community, and providing a location to drop off diaper donations is just another easy way for them to do that. Customers at Monkeys’ Uncle have donated more than 4,000 diapers in the last year! If you find yourself in the Eastern Market area in DC, be sure to stop in and say hello to Jay and Michael!
If you’re interested in working with us to collect diapers at your local business, drop us a line with your contact information and your business location. We will be in touch as soon as possible to work out the details. And, of course, if you don’t run a business but know one that may be interested in getting involved, pass our information along to them!
